In this article Bruner speaks to how education aim for the average student. Enough to keep the superior student feel challenged, yet easy enough that they don't kill a lower student's confidence.
Bruener states that the sweet spot for arousal attentions is somewhere between complete apathy and wild excitement. They should allow time for reflection, evaluation, generalization, yet minimize passiveness. Passiveness could result in boredom and apathy. The question he poses is how to we arouse interest in content.
Bruener predicts that there will be
- increasing demand for teaching science and technology, and supporting subjects
- jobs will be abundant in tech
- there will be reform to fulfill the needs of the country
