  • Engagement...

Pros

Cons

  • seeing doesn't mean understanding
  • don't track peripheral vision
  • Can't equate attention with gaze 100%
  • Data collection could be pretty slow
  • Infant and children could be difficult to assess.

Saccades

  • Rapide eye movements w/ the purpose of bring objects in to forveal vision.
    1. Our eyes alway jumps from one fixation to another.
    2. 3-4 time per second and pause 300-400 ms (fixation)
  • Indications a shift on visual spacial attention
  • Measures: duration, peak velocity, amplitude, gain, and latency to initiate saccade

Pursuit

  • How do we track moving objects
  • Measurements of Gain
    1. compensatory saccades

Changes in pupil diameter

could indicator of:

  • interest
  • cognitive resources (working memory)
  • diameter large when people are interested. You are in an appraisal state, want as much light as possible.

Naturalistic Settings

  • refers to viewing scenes and face
  • Measures: location, duration, and sequencing of fixation. and distance beween fixations
